Welcome back to on repeat.
It’s been a month of big changes in my world and so I’ve obviously been listening to my favourite songs and artists on repeat to keep me sane and grounded.
If you’re keen to read on then I’d love you to click below and subscribe. on repeat will then zoom into your inbox the moment it’s posted each month - thank you!
on repeat
This month I’ve been listening to Lizzy McAlpine on repeat. Realistically, I’ve been listening to her daily for the past year. On Spotify, my top five songs in 2022 were erase me, reckless driving, all my ghosts, Give Me A Minute and Never Gonna Be Alone (with the legends Jacob Collier and John Mayer).
Recently, ceilings and orange show speedway have been flying around on the radio and on socials. There’s something so raw, beautiful and addictive about her voice and songwriting. If you’re someone who also listens to songs over and over again you’ll understand the excitement of hearing a new sound or noticing a new instrument in the mix each time you listen - this happens all the time with her songs. If you haven’t listened already, go go go.
The playlist: Each month you can listen to a brand new playlist of all the songs I’ve been listening to. Click the image below for this month’s ear-worms.
Rewind
Over the past month I’ve moved home to a completely new area which has meant there’s been little time for anything other than house admin. However, I did spend an evening performing at The Gladstone Arms before the move - it felt so good to sing and share my music with everyone there.
Moving home brings with it so many opportunities for reflection and new experiences. I’m looking forward to seeing what songs I write in this new environment.
Pause
Historically, big changes in my life have brought up moments of anxiety and feelings of overwhelm. Lots of people feel this way around change and everyone has their own methods of coping. Over time it’s become clear that exercise and meditation are key to centering myself in the present moment. They often bring up song ideas too.
Everyone is different, but in moments of stress I settle in for a meditation with Andy on the headspace app, go for a walk, put my phone out of sight and most importantly, tell someone I trust exactly how I’m feeling. Our lives have raced back to pre-pandemic speed and we rarely take time to pause, but I’m learning more and more just how important pressing pause is. I hope you had a moment to pause this bank holiday weekend.
Fast-forward
April is a busy one for gigs so check your diary and come along!
I have a full band show this Friday, 14th April, at the Spice of Life, Soho and then on the 18th I’m taking part in a songwriters circle at The Bedford Pub, Balham. The event is called Pindrop and has been brought over to the UK from Nashville. I went to a similar event at the Roundhouse in Camden a few years ago and fell in love with the set up. A night all about songwriters and their songs - perfection!
Final date for your April diary is on Tuesday 25th. I am back working with the wonderful Lorraine at Success Express music opening for Si Connolly at Servant Jazz Quarters.
Tickets for everything are on my website here.

Do you know what or when your Saturn return is? I thought I was going through mine at the moment but it turns out mine is yet to come. My friend Emily introduced me to this podcast and now I’m obsessed.
I got tickets to Tiny Habits headline show this summer and I can’t wait - these vocals!
